SCORM

For several years, developers of online training materials have worked on ways for the content (learning objects) to communicate effectively with an online system (LMS or LCMS).  LearnCentrix has implemented portions of the SCORM (Sharable Courseware Object Reference Model) Run-time Environment specifications to allow data such as scores or bookmarks to be passed from a learning object to the LearnCentrix database.  This feature facilitates learning progress inside modules of online training content to be tracked by LearnCentrix.

Technically, the course developer uploads the learning object to LearnCentrix and selects the checkbox for including the SCORM API.  That's all that is necessary to make the two communicate.  However, SCORM is a complex set of standards and guidelines.  Marketing brochures are prone to claim "SCORM compliance" when in reality, there are numerous optional components that may or may not be implemented by the online systems or the learning objects.  It would be wise to thoroughly investigate your specific needs regarding SCORM and how you intend to use it with LearnCentrix.  Please give us a call to discuss it.
