Reusable Learning Topics
It is common for training developers to build courses that may reach several audiences. And many times it is desirable to have small customization for each audience. LearnCentrix has a mechanism to address that need for customization - Shared or Copied Topics.
Reusable learning objects is an industry term for allowing small units of training material to be used in more than one course. In LearnCentrix, such a unit is simply called a topic. The same topics created by a developer may be used in multiple courses. For example, a course developer builds a course called Overcoming Sales Objections. Eighty percent of that course could be used by any company's sales reps because it teaches general principles. However, each company has different products and encounters industry-specific objections from prospects, so the course needs twenty percent of the material to be specifically developed on a client-by-client basis. The developer would create a company-specific course that is empty, and then share or copy topics from the main Overcoming Sales Objections course. The result is a course for ABC Company Overcoming Sales Objections that contains eighty percent of the topics needed. The additional custom topics are added to produce the full course for ABC Company.
The process is as easy as checking boxes for the topics you wish to share or copy.

Shared topics appear in all of the courses using the learning objects, but they are only changed/created in one place. For instance, if a shared topic is used in 25 courses, and that topic is modified by the developer, then all 25 courses would immediately see the topic modifications. The system differentiates between shared and copied topics because there are times when developers want to get a copy of a topic that they can change but not affect the original. LearnCentrix allows you to reuse learning objects by picking and choosing shared or copied topics in any combination that you need.
